Vascular access management system achieves Joint Commission re-accreditation
Vernon Hills, Illinois. 10/1/09 - Lifeline Vascular Access, the nation's leading provider of vascular access management services, announced today that it has been re-accredited by The Joint Commission - demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission's national standards for health care quality and safety. Lifeline Vascular Access was awarded its first accreditation in 2006 and received the Gold Seal of ApprovalTM, which is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects a commitment to meeting high healthcare performance standards.The Joint Commission accredits the broadest range of health care facilities, including health systems, office-based practices, ambulatory care facilities, and hospitals.
Select Lifeline Vascular Access facilities underwent a thorough on-site evaluation of compliance with 150 standards that promote quality care and patient safety. The decision to pursue this voluntary process demonstrates the commitment to provide high quality care in a safe environment. The on-site evaluations included observation in patient care areas, interviews with staff and patients, and reviews of documentation and selected medical records. Surveyors also looked at facility safety, security, treatment of hazardous wastes and materials, emergency preparedness, patient safety, equipment condition and utility systems.
Lifeline has been successful in developing a dialysis access management infrastructure that is uniquely suited to the pursuit of clinical excellence including research and presentations in the field. Lifeline provides comprehensive support for clinical centers in the key areas of patient care, research and education.
