250-Mile Employee Bike Ride to Fight Kidney Disease

Participants gear up for the 3-day "ride of a lifetime" through Michigan
Vernon Hills, Illinois. 9/11/09 - Lifeline Vascular Access, the nation's leading provider of vascular access management services (a DaVita affiliate, headquartered in Vernon Hills, IL) today announced that employees will ride bicycles to raise money for kidney awareness in the 2009 Tour DaVitaTM. On September 20, they will ride alongside other DaVita teammates (employees), family and friends for 250 miles over the course of three days. The ride will kick-off in Greenville, MI and end in Grand Haven State Park - all in an effort to raise awareness and funds in the fight against CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease). A silent epidemic, CKD affects 26 million Americans, with 325,000 individuals suffering from kidney failure and currently on dialysis."To be among a group of people do dedicated to this cause is truly inspiring, " said Rich Nee, GM and Vice President, Lifeline Vascular Access. "There is no other opportunity like this - to have the chance to push ourselves physically for all of our dialysis patients who struggle physically every day. I am proud to be a part of this dedicated team of kidney care advocates and together we can make a read difference."
To participate in the 2009 Tour DaVita, each rider raised a minimum $750 in donations and paid his/her own travel expenses. Lifeline Vascular Access riders have raised over $18,000 and this amount, combined with DaVita and other corporate sponsorships, is expected to contribute mover than $600,000 to The Kidney TRUSTTM, a 501c(3) non-profit organization working to prevent kidney disease through public education and awareness across the United States.
